Over the weekend, my sister in law married her long time love in a simple, intimate ceremony on the family farm. Rowenna served as flower girl. Ok, in the interest of full disclosure: she took one step down the aisle, tossed her mini bouquet on the ground, then made a bee line for daddy at the end of the aisle…sat for about 2 minutes, then got up to explore the farm while the ceremony continued. (We saw that coming and had a family member specifically designated to go with her when she darted off.)
We were so happy to celebrate with them and loved the opportunity to catch up with family we don’t often see. I love a wedding, the opportunity to see a family grow, and a commitment made. Those warm fuzzies carried throughout the weekend as we spent time together. Quiet, restful moments and chasing Rowenna moments. Mostly chasing Rowenna moments.
This sweet girl is her daddy’s girl through and through. Happiest when she is covered in dirt and running free outside. At home in a pile of hay or fishing in the pond. (She’s still just watching, but is utterly fascinated by the process and isn’t a bit squeamish about a fish on a hook. Unlike her mother.) She fills every single second with curious glances, deliberate exploration, wide grins, and excited chatter.
And there was oh so much to see and do at the farm. Eating grapes from the vine, playing in the hay, snuggling brand new kitties. It was a wonderful weekend.
