This is a love story. A story about this beautiful little girl and the thing her dad did to help her out.
A couple months ago, hubby and I started talking about an iPad for Rowenna. We knew it would take a while to save up for one (we had decided to go for the iPad with 3G as well as wifi since we do a lot of long distance road trips) so we figured by the time we had the money in hand, Rowenna would be ready to use one.
We’ve had a few financial set backs recently (oh hi there, brand new carpet on the stairs!) and hubby is starting grad school in the spring so money has been a little tighter than usual. But still, we kept plugging away at saving for this iPad.
Well, my parents were very generous at Christmas time this year and they brought us very close to our goal. I got excited and jumped the gun a bit, saying we should just go ahead and pick up the iPad. To my surprise, hubby agreed whole-heartedly. We bent back and forth a bit, trying to decide if this was really the right time to spend this money, until hubby dropped a little piece of information on me.
He’s been secretly working a second job.
He knew it would take us a while to save, and he wanted Rowenna to have the iPad, so for love of his girl, he’s been working a second job.
I had no idea. I’m married to a teacher, so I’m used to him typing away on the computer and looking through papers and being generally occupied in the evenings. It never crossed my mind that he was doing a second job entirely.
But he has. And he does. He’s working a second job so his girl can have some extras that will encourage fine motor skills, communication, and even a little creativity.
He’s working a second job so I have something I can bring with me to my training program that starts soon so I can keep in touch through email and Facebook.
I’ve written a couple posts about how much I love this man and why, but really, this post pretty much sums it up. This is why I married him. He loves fiercely and wholly and gives of himself.
He is amazing.
So now our little peanut has a brand new tool to explore the world, and I have yet another reminder of how wonderful my hubby truly is.
