I love that the faith has special prayers just for infants and children. (Actually, there are prayers for pretty much everyone, including one for expectant mothers that I said a lot while waiting for Rowenna.)
One of the most cherished memories of my life is from just minutes after Rowenna’s birth. We had requested in our birth plan for a moment of silence immediately following her birth so we could pray for her. It was so beautiful. Our nurses and doctor stopped their bustling and listened quietly while hubby prayed for our sweet girl. I love that some of the first words she ever heard were prayer.
Here’s one I say with Rowenna. It’s simple and sweet and I love the imagery.
“O God, guide me, protect me, make of me a shining lamp and a brilliant star. Thou art the Mighty and the Powerful.”
