So this blog doesn’t always need to be philosophical. I hadn’t meant for it to take that turn. I just wanted to go on philosophical tangents now and again. To get back toward my “this is what life is” course, here’s an update on Rowenna.
Yesterday we had a visit with her cardiologist. Rowenna was a complete champion at her echo. We attempted an echo about a month ago and Rowenna made it extremely clear she wanted nothing to do with it. She demonstrated her new post-surgical lung capacity for about 45 minutes before her cardiologist gave up on the echo and told us to come back in a month.
This time around Rowenna batted her eyelashes flirtatiously at her echo tech, smiled her big beautiful smile, and alternately held his hand and the ultrasound wand cord as he took a peek at her newly repaired heart. It was beyond charming. The visit was a complete success and full of excellent news. Her heart looks and sounds great. Her lungs sound great. She’s plumping up (baby girl is starting to look a little bit like the Michelin Man) and wonderfully pink. We are weaning her off her medications and don’t need to check back in with her cardiologist until February. It’s an amazing feeling to put this heart issue behind us.
I am proud of my daughter and the strides she has made!
This week is very exciting for us. Rowenna’s aunt and uncle are coming to visit. We are visiting with my family on Thanksgiving. Our house is decorated for the holiday. Logs are stacked by the fireplace. We’re entering that time of year when everything feels just a little bit magical and very much cozy. I am very much looking forward to this holiday season and happy to have my daughter to share it with.
